ACRA National Championship Recap

This May, Marquette attended the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) National Championship Regatta in Gainesville, Georgia for the first time in the team's history. Held at the Lake Lanier Rowing venue (home of the 1996 Summer Olympic Games), this regatta is the National Championship for club rowing teams, and draws in the best club teams in the country.  Seniors Jacob Dahleen and Dan Otterson represented Marquette Crew in the Men's 2x event. After fighting their way and rowing twice on Saturday in heats and a repechage (6th in the heat, 5th in the repechage), the double made it into the Petite Final on Sunday. The Petite Final consisted of crews from University of Alabama - Huntsville, Seattle, Denver, University of California - Santa Barbara, UCLA, Georgia Tech, and William and Mary. The double rowed a time of 7:50, their fastest time of the weekend, and finished 7th in the Petite Final and 15th overall. Read more about the trip to ACRA at the athlete blog. Also, a very special thanks to the fine folks at Grand Valley State University Rowing and the University of Michigan Men's Rowing for their generosity and hospitality this past weekend. Overall, Marquette's first trip to ACRA was a great success, and we hope to send even more boats to this prestigious regatta next year!
