Alumni 8+ Competes at River Challenge | Print |  E-mail

A diverse group, representing a number of class years, the boat came together in the weeks leading up to the race.  Marquette Crew's coaching staff was well-represented with Zach Savage, Ryan Endries, John Modrzynski, and Jim Peters.  Shawn Dellis flew out from Los Angeles to get in the boat for the first time since graduation.  Rick Mehl and Jim Olson were past alumni boat participants at the 2010 Head of the Rock and couldn't wait to get back in the boat again to row for their alma mater.  Jack Bolotin travelled all the way from downtown Milwaukee to pull his oar, and James Mauck came out of coxswain retirement to steer the boat to victory.

Shawn Dellis: "...it felt like it had the power of a Mack truck...and who can argue with a win (with zero practice)?  For this old-timer, it just felt great to be back on the water.  Plus, I had a good time catching up with some old buddies and meeting some new ones: MU Crew is awesome."

Ryan Endries: "This past weekend was awesome! Had a great time on the water and off.  Can't wait for Rockford and as well as next year's River Challenge." James Mauck: "It was a fun day today. I'm in for next year since we have a title to defend."
